Eine Verwandte aus den USA berichtet mir folgendes:

"I have an iron ring that says "DHG" on one side and "1914" on the other side of a crossThere is an inscription across the back of the band but part is obliterated. I am not sure if the ring was made smaller or the writing was lost due to wear.
"Gab ichth schwere zeit (missing) demalten vaterland"
"Ihm cold fur diesses eisen (missing) die treue zubewisen"

What I think this means is that a gold ring was exchanged for this iron ring as part of the war efforts in 1914.

I am not sure how I came to have the ring. I have had it since I was a child in the 1940's."

Wird sie mit ihrer Vermutung Recht haben?
